Recording Techniques

The main rhythm component is a single drum loop. This was created using three samples there were arranged together using Soundforge. A crash cymbal and tambourine were then recorded live, to add variety.

All the acoustic guitars were recorded with an ATM 27HE Audio Technica Dynamic Cardiod microphone. A standard model 'Encore' left-handed electro-acoustic was used to play the parts.

The electric guitar parts were recording by miking up a Marshall amplifier with a standard dynamic 'Peavey' microphone. The distortion effects were created using 'Pandora's Box' guitar effects units.

The bass guitar part was recorded with a standard model 'Encore' bass recorded direct, using the line-input on the Session 8 front panel.

A stereo mix of the Session 8 tracks was then recorded onto the first two tracks of an ADAT tape. This was done due to the inadequacies of the Session 8 system. It was not possible to transfer all the different parts onto separate ADAT tracks.

All the vocals were recorded using an ATM27HE Audio Technica Dynamic Hyper Cardiod microphone. A pop-shield was utilised to prevent unwanted noises going to tape.

Lyrics

I'm sorry it's over,
I've seen you blow your mind too many times.
Why can't you open your eyes,
you're driving blind.

It's no surpass, you're dysfunctional,
wrapped around somebody else finger.
Nothing's ever made in stone, you're alone,
in feeling you're despised.

I'm getting closer to the truth,
wondering what it's like to know your name.
I'm getting further from the proof,
looking out for someone else to blame.

Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety.
Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety,
and you get me down.

If I could I'd touch you,
reach out into your imperfect mind.
I'm searching, I'm looking
for something I can't find.

You feel that you're better than the rest,
misguided grand delusions once again.
An angel, someone who is blessed,
why is it that all you feel is pain.

Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety.
Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety,
and you get me down.

I'm getting closer to the truth,
wondering what it's like to know your name.
I'm getting further from the proof,
looking out for someone else to blame.

Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety.
Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety,
and you get me down.

Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety.
Sometimes I feel,
just like me you're a menace to sobriety,
and you get me down.

You get me down.

You get me down.
